The IBAHRI found significant cause for concern over the extent of political interference in the judiciary, the rule of law and the ability for human rights lawyers to practice freely. High level panelists will discuss these common issues in the three vastly different contexts of Venezuela, Syria and Zimbabwe, all being reviewed at the Twelfth Session of the Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (3-14 October 2011).
